Miss Teen SCV 2006

In her own words:

My experience with the Miss Santa Clarita Valley Program began in 2004 when I first competed for Miss Teen Santa Clarita Valley. Before I joined the Miss SCV Program I had issues speaking in public and presenting myself as a confident young woman. After months of training with Ms. Marti and our past Queens that all changed. Still a little bit nervous, I walked out onto the stage and performed my speech and afterwards, I felt so great! I never imagined that I was capable to speak in front of a small crowd let alone the large one that I was faced the night of the pageant. I walked away that year as Miss Teen Spirit and took the opportunity given to me to participate in many events. The events I attended with all the great girls I met that year opened my eyes to what I had been missing out on. After that year, I wanted more. So there I was again on the stage in 2006 competing for the title of Miss Teen SCV. When I was crowned Miss Teen Santa Clarita Valley 2006 I could only imagine the exciting adventure, that lied before me.

Throughout my year the events I attended gave me an even greater appreciation for the town we all live in. I have learned so much about the great businesses in our area through all the grand openings we attend. Being part of Santa Clarita’s traditional 4th of July Parade was such an honor and joy to experience with my pageant sisters and my driver who was my Dad. I had so much fun getting into the western spirit and learning country dances with Sophie, Miss SCV, at Castaic Western Days. Events like the Jazz Festival held by Barbara Myler and the chamber installation dinner have shown me what a great community we are! I have been fortunate to have this experience, yet it has been a challenge to balance my duties while in my first year in college at Cal State Long Beach University, but the experience has been well worth the challenge. This program has done so many great things for me. It has been a great way for me and other young girls to help the community and not to mention it is great for networking since we work with our wonderful dignitaries and chamber members so often. Meeting new friends is just another exciting thing this pageant has done for me. It has been a joy to work with Rachel, Sophie, Michelle, and my court: Marie, Chantal and Kaitlyn- you girls are great and will go so far in life. This program has helped me mature into an independent individual who can present themselves with poise and dignity- Thank you Ms. Marti for teaching me everything you know. Miss Teen SCV 2007 I hope you have as great of year I did and take advantage for its all its worth because it is the experience of a lifetime. I’m sad that it has come to an end, but a friend once told me- Don’t cry because it over, smile because it happened.
