In her own words:

Hello I'm Tatiana Sanchez, 18 years old and I was recently crowned Miss Val Verde 2008! I have been raised in Val Verde all my life. I have been involved with the SC Boys and Girls Club for many years as well as church for Val Verde. I'm happy to represent the community of Val Verde because I feel that I know enough about this fine city to be one of its leaders. I love living here in such a quite neighborhood. The Miss SCV Program has really taught me a lot. I had so much fun at the pageant that when I got crowned I was so excited to know that I could be part of something big. I love change and this is a turning point in my life. With this program I have learned that there is more out there, and then what is just seen here in Val Verde. I have attended the schools near by such as Live Oak Elementary, Castaic Middle school, and just recently graduated from Valencia High school where I was part of the girl's basketball team for 3 years, best time of my life! I was one of the founders/leaders of STRIVE which stands for Student Teaching RESPECT Incaution Values and Equality. I'm attending College of the Canyons in the fall and my major is law/criminal Justice. I would like to transfer to San Diego State as soon as possible.

Growing up in Val Verde has been fun because you get to know everyone, in addition that it's such a small city. I participated in the sporting events such as basketball and football for the boys and girls club. I also refereed MVP for both sports several times. By having the opportunity to be part of the teams here, I had the opportunity to met new people everyday, same with church events; especially before Christmas, everyone comes together and it feels like a big family. That is why I am glad to be Miss Val Verde. Everyone has a role model in there lives and I hope that I can be someone’s role model one day. I have taken the right path to success and I am very proud of myself for my choices. Nothing should ever stop someone for doing what they love. And I love giving a helping hand, exactly what a Queen should do.
